Built in Hayward, California from heavy-gauge, corrosion-resistant wire mesh, the Pro basket is made to outlast the flimsy imported baskets — rigid enough to hold its shape in the ground and keep burrowing pests out season after season. Every basket arrives pre-built and ready to plant.
Sizes
- 1 Gallon — 8″ outside diameter × 8″ side walls. For 1-gallon nursery stock, perennials, and bulbs.
- 5 Gallon — 12″ outside diameter × 12″ side walls. The everyday size for shrubs and young trees.
- 15 Gallon — 14″ outside diameter × 20″ side walls. For larger nursery stock and specimen trees.
Specifications

- Finish: galvanized after welding — the zinc coats the welds and cut ends, so it holds up in soil far longer than galvanized-before-weld

Dig a little wider and deeper than usual so the basket sits comfortably.
Set the basket
Drop the basket in with the rim at or just above soil level.
Plant & backfill
Place your plant inside, backfill with soil, and water in. The roots grow out; the gophers stay out.

Do gopher baskets really work?
A wire basket around the root ball is generally the most reliable way to protect plants from gophers, voles, and moles. The key is a mesh tough enough to resist chewing and digging but open enough to let roots and water through — which is what this basket is built for.
What size do I need?
Match the basket to your plant's pot size. The 1 gallon is 8″ across with 8″ side walls, the 5 gallon is 12″ × 12″, and the 15 gallon is 14″ × 20″. For a bigger root ball or an odd shape, we build to order.
How long do they last?
Because they're galvanized after welding, the zinc covers the weld joints and cut ends rather than leaving them bare — which is where cheaper baskets fail first. Exact life depends on your soil, moisture, and conditions.
